Hello and welcome to the LGBTQ+ page! The purpose of the content created for this section is to help provide a safe space for raising awareness, gaining knowledge, and asking questions for all those who would like to learn more about what LGBTQ+ means and how to be more inclusive of the LGBTQ+ community. Having a willingness to learn will help create inclusive classrooms, compassionate communities, and will positively benefit the learner- whether they be a member of the LGBTQ+ community or not.

For any who may not know, LGBTQ+ stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer or questioning. The plus sign represents sexual identities that may or may not fall under the other previously mentioned letters. These terms are used to describe one’s sexual orientation. Sexual orientation refers to the gender or genders that someone is sexually attracted to. Some may wonder why learning the meanings behind these terms is important. It’s important because learning about and developing a better understanding of these identities will help us be more respectful of others- no matter what their background, situation, or story may be.

In this section, students and teachers alike can find great resources to help foster equality, respect, and inclusion when working with diverse students in film, theatre, and other artistic environments. In addition, these resources can help in all aspects of life. Some of these resources include practice scenarios, writing prompts, lessons, activities, handouts, articles spotlighting successful artists, and more!
