Greetings pals! Welcome to my show! I hope you have all had a wonderful week. I know I did!

If you love to dance and sing, well then you’re gonna LOVE this episode! Today we are talking about Singin’ In The Rain! This is a musical movie, meaning that the story is told through song and dance! Singin’ In The Rain came out in 1952, which was during the Golden Age of Musical Theater- an age in which musicals were extremely popular.

You’re probably wondering why in the world Paislee is talking about a movie that came out DECADES ago. Well, this film is not only a classic musical movie, it is still a film that many admire and take inspiration from in modern musical movies. Singin’ In The Rain has a charming story, but even more impressive is the choreography and the music.

What does music and choreography have to offer a film? Why can’t we just say how we feel instead of dancing and singing about it? Words are powerful for sure, but there are other ways to express oneself. Singin’ In The Rain does a beautiful job at utilizing the dancing and singing to reveal emotions a character might have or to show conflict in the story. Sometimes it’s just to purely entertain the audience.

My personal favorite number in this movie is Donald O’Connor singing, “Make ‘Em Laugh”. This song has a couple purposes. First off, it shows that this character is a happy and positive person. Second, this character is trying to cheer up his friend who feels sad. So, he tries to make him laugh by doing silly stunts and jumping off walls. While many might think that this song is to just merely entertain, in the story he’s actually trying to make his buddy feel better! Cool, right?

There are so many musical movies out there, but there are none quite like Singin’ In The Rain. Do you have a favorite movie musical? If you do, make sure to submit it on jsk stories!

Thank you for watching this episode of Paislee Presents! Have a POP-tastic day!
