When meeting or working with a person with a disability, sometimes we get nervous that we might say or do the wrong thing- especially if the person has a disability that you’ve never heard of before. The best thing to do in any situation like this is to be yourself and be a friend! Remember- we all share that same desire to feel accepted and supported. One way that we can be inclusive of individuals with disabilities is by inviting them to join you in doing the activities you love to do, as well as accepting the invitation to join them if they invite you to participate in an activity they love to do! Whether it be participating in chess club, the school play, or a recreational sport, it feels good to be included!
