Courtesy is showing consideration and politeness to others. It is the best way to convey respect for another person. Being courteous includes being considerate of others’ belongings. A person with a disability may use a wheelchair, crutches, braces, white cane, guide dog, hearing aids, emotional support animal, and/or motorized mobility devices when going about their day-to-day activities. It is important to remember that these items belong to them. People with disabilities may use one of these tools, instruments, or support animals in order to go about their activities of daily living. Therefore, we can show courtesy to others and their belongings by recognizing that these belongings are not toys and were not designed for entertainment.
